Flexible Volunteering

Volunteering via Active Support is for anyone over the age of 18 years. It is a way for adults to volunteer time to scouting in a flexible way that suits them.

There is no requirement to have been involved in scouting before joining. All that is required is a willingness to volunteer some time to support Scouting.

Active Support can take up as much or as little time as the volunteer wishes.

Wide Ranging Skills

You might not realise it, but your existing skills may well be useful to SASU. There are many ways in which our adult volunteers can help, for example scouting can use people with the following skills:

  • fundraising, leading, catering, knowledge sharing, coordinating, planning, supporting, organising,
recruiting, maintenance & DIY, training, safety and welfare, communicating – the list is endless!

Variety of Roles & Opportunities Available

Our adult volunteers support scouting in a wide range of roles, from working directly with young people, to helping manage a Group, to being a charity Trustee, and a lot, lot more.

We help volunteers get the most out of their experiences in scouting by providing opportunities for adventure, training, fun and friendship.

Full Training Given

Our award-winning training scheme for volunteers means that adults get as much from scouting as young people.

Our approach focuses on what you want to get out of volunteering.

Over 90% of Active Support volunteers say that their skills and experiences have been useful in their work or personal life.
